The Farlane Collective

In summer of 2025 I released my first collection of songs, under the name of The Farlane Collective. Sending your art out to the world is a scary thing and it felt safer to have a professional name to hide behind. I have been writing songs all my life, but never really shared them. The advent of new tech has changed that, finally enabling me to produce and distribute music of a technical standard good enough to release professionally.
Hopefully my songs are the kind of tunes that stick in your head, resonate, and cause you to smile and reflect. My lyrics are always personal, mostly drawn from my own life experiences, observations, and feelings as a 57 year old gay man. They focus on love, loss, change, hope and the general mess and joy of adult life.
So why the name?
Farlane was my great grandmother’s name on my dad’s side. Collective, because of the different voices and styles.
It has been an amazing journey to get to this point. I hope you enjoy my music and join me on my onward path.

Releases
Released in July 2025, the debut album from The Farlane Collective is ‘Starry Nights’. This eclectic collection of styles and vocalists features a combination of new material and songs stretching back 25 years. The album aimed to showcase the breadth of my songwriting skills – from power pop to haunting ballads to country. The use of AI in the album production enabled me to explore different genre, and experiment with different styles and ways of using the technology – helping me hone how I write in 2026, and to find my natural musical home and form.

In January 2026 the four track EP ‘Pop’ was released. Synth pop has always been one of my favourite genres, and I wanted to draw on my influences including Pet Shop Boys, Erasure and early 80’s electro pop, to create a slice of power pop and sheer exuberant joy. These songs felt quite different from ‘Starry Nights‘ so were collected onto the separate EP.

In addition to the main releases I have launched a number of remixes, and of course the obligatory Christmas single! All tracks are available on all streaming services.
Playlists
As the music of The Farlane Collective can be varied in style, I have begun to collate genre based playlists on Spotify. Here you’ll find a collection of the acoustic tracks, and also a selection of the more electric pop tracks.
